The data gathered from this test campaign will help influence and inform the final design of the cargo Dream Chaser, which will fly at least six cargo delivery missions to and from the space station by 2024. Commercial Resupply Services contracts are designed to obtain cargo delivery services to the space station, disposal of unneeded cargo, and the return of research samples and other cargo from the station back to Earth. In 2016, three cargo contracts were awarded to Orbital ATK of Dulles, Virginia; Sierra Nevada Corporation of Sparks, Nevada; and SpaceX of Hawthorne, California. These recipients will ensure the critical science, research and technology demonstrations that are informing our journey to Mars are delivered to the International Space Station from 2019 through 2024.
